Mini Arena 1

The mood is strange, even for an arena. Every stylist is different, of course, but this arena has thrown people for a loop, and they adjust to them differently.

25 - 24 - 23

The clothes are simple, and the tribute are loaded up quickly. Obviously the stylist have been informed what to tell them, what warnings to give. That there will be two sounds, one for a murdered death and one for an accidental one.

20 - 19 - 18 - 17 - 16

The platforms lift them up, and they are in a tight ring, all facing outwards, in a courtyard ringed by a tall stone wall. To one side is a ring of weapons laid out, brutal looking things. To the other is a ring of supply bags. The pedestals all sit directly in the middle. And beyond them a series of entrances to the maze beyond.

11- 10 - 9 - 8

They've all been warned, don't step off your pedestal early. They have also been warned to put on a good show. Don't kill yourself off, and make sure not to be in the arena when the time ends, without having won. Or else you might not be coming back.

The sound of the gong plays crystal clear across the opening. Let the games begin.

((OOC-feel free to play out cornucopia here, and then start your own threads just like any other arena. There is still some OOC plotting going around, so I am going to say there are 10 people murdered and the arena lasts 22 hours.))

Wary is perfectly understandable. Even brought down to a mere fraction of the size she should be, Iskierka is a formidable foe, and those claws are certainly not just for show. And with the threat of real death hanging over everyone's head even her usual semi-friendliness has gone right out the window.

But she doesn't attack. She's not foolish enough to not charge in when she doesn't know how good he is with that sword and her scales aren't going to be enough to keep her from being injured for long. Instead, she lowers her head and offers a low hiss. She might be perfectly capable of speech when she wants to, but right now it doesn't seem like a good time to do so. Not when she she can still manage a decently impressive threat display.

With a mutual confusion at each other's intentions, it's hard to judge whether it would be best to run or to launch into battle. He isn't entirely sure whether her fire power has been disarmed as other powers have, so he'll have to be careful regardless of what he does.

The hiss, of course, is the opposite of reassuring. He stands his ground, gripping his sword in a more defensive manner than before, baring his teeth in a scowl as he mulls over the situation.

"Stand down." He orders, no shake or semblance of fear in his voice.

It has been, much to her dismay. They always seem to be turning it off in the name of fairness and it's starting to be a little irritating. Not that she's about to mention the fact that she can't strike him down where he stands, but she makes no move either. She's never taken well to orders in general, much less ones that happen to come from someone she doesn't know in the slightest.

"Whyever should I?" she answers in return, spreading her wings as much as the confines of the maze allow her too.

It might be to her dismay, but it's a boon to Hans. Not that he realises it yet, of course. He's going to have to tread carefully, but even a dragon without fire isn't something to be sniffed at. He doesn't exactly make a habit of fighting big lizards on a daily basis, but he feels he can handle this.

He grits his teeth when he's sassed by said giant lizard, watching those wings spread warily and holding his ground. "If you're looking to fight, I won't back down. However, if you'd be so kind as to let me past, I'd save you the embarrassment of being bested by a man with a sword." He quirks a brow at her, feeling decidedly arrogant about making his way out of this damn maze.

She's not precisely looking for a fight. But she's not about to back down either and even now, stuck in close quarters that are not really her forte, Iskierka isn't one to back down easily. He might have a sword, but she isn't really going to let that stop her from doing her very best all the same.

"I have defeated men before," she counters, and it's true. She's made it a long way in the Arenas, if she's not yet managed to squeeze out a win herself and even before then she has a long career of fighting - and winning - battles on a grander scale than this. So what should one man with a sword mean to her, when she has no idea of how he fights or even if he happens to be as good as he thinks he is.

JUST CONFIRMING do you want hans to kill her?

[personal profile] hanssome 2014-05-08 12:26 pm (UTC)(link)
"Of that I have no doubt." He murmurs, grazing his eyes over her as he quietly tries to zero in on a weak spot. He might not have size or strength on her, but he has agility and cunning. He can't be entirely sure if her intent was to kill him, but he doesn't sense uncertainty. Overall, he'd prefer to eliminate competition swiftly rather than run the risk of turning a corner into her again.

As such, when he strikes, it's fast. He's launching at her quickly and taking a swing, trying to gauge her intentions. He's prepared to dodge if she strikes, but if she does he'll know this is a real fight.

I am perfectly okay with him killing her!

If she has a weak spot it's not that easily spotted. There's no conveniently unarmored spot in her scales, and nothing else that would suggest any sort of weakness. But her scales are at least only enough to sort prove a defense against a sort. She can still be cut, and made to bleed, but she's not thinking about that. Right now, there's simply the prospect of a fight and that is more than enough for her.

The speed with which he strikes is a little surprising, but she's reacting almost before she's finished recognizing the fact, as she snaps out as if to bite him - or at the very least, catch something in her jaws.

The closer he gets, the more impressively tough those sales are looking. He's sure a few good, solid hits with a sword might break through, but he can't really make a concentrated effort to swing repeatedly at the same place with that dangerous head threatening to snap him in two.

His best bet is her underbelly, though he can't rightfully see if it's soft. Well, he couldn't. Not until the jaws snapping close have him hitting the ground and rolling. He decides to go out on a limb and plunge his sword upward and under her in attempt to pierce a softer area.

Her scales might well turn a sword well enough to keep her safe from a few blows. She hasn't really made much of attempt to see what will and won't be turned aside by her scales - not outside of the things that have killed her during the Arenas themselves - but either way, she hasn't really been expected that anyone would try to get in underneath her and it takes her just enough by surprise for the blow to strike true.

It's not enough to kill her, yet, but she's bleeding and judging by the angry hiss that follows, she's not at all pleased. Still, if there's one good thing about being mostly under her it means that he's out of reach of those snapping jaws. On the other hand, there are still those claws to look out for, and she's doing everything in her power to at least land some manner of blow in return.
