WHO| Guy and Justin, Guy and Susannah
WHAT| Guy, a tar pit, and a mercy kill
WHEN| Week 6
WHERE| Third floor, the tar pit
WARNINGS| Deeeeeath
Exhaustion and hunger were setting in. Losing so much blood hadn't helped, though his arm had been bandaged very well by Dr. Watson. The wound had clotted up properly and he'd managed to keep it from getting infected by washing it regularly. So far.
But he was tired and the lack of a working arm - as well as the dizziness from what had happened to his ear - weren't making things easy.
He hadn't wanted to go back after everything that had happened, but he decided to try taking a moment on the remains of the third floor to rest, figuring that most wouldn't try to go there after its collapse.
That made it dangerous but potentially safe at the same time.
It turned out it was empty, devoid of all people. But the tar pit was there, still bubbling away. He couldn't take his eyes off it and quickly came to the realization that, safe place for a breather or not, he'd rather face danger and other forms of death than be this close to it.

Placeholder for Justin
obscenely late sorry
He's not being subtle or quiet about it.

But the unmistakable ding of an elevator - and sound of the doors closing before he had a chance to hop back on - also made Guy noticeable as well.
For a moment, he could just stand there, hand clenching around his spear - one of he was almost too exhausted to carry, let alone wield. After all, he'd had his eardrum burst, been burned by cold, and been shot in the arm.
He didn't stand a chance and his expression showed exactly how much he knew that.

He walks up behind Guy, grins with a mouth wide in a grin underneath his mask. One raised fist transforms into wood and metal, and he quickly moves to crack the headlock against Guy's skull.

He cried out in pain as he dropped to one knee, head reeling from the blow, though he pivoted to try to thrust the spear in Justin's direction.

He wasn't with it enough to fight back properly but conscious enough to be terrified.

So that's where they were going, and after Guy was firmly stuck in the ooze, Justin stood to the side for a few minutes to just watch the caveman struggle.
no subject
"Nnn...nnno. No." He blinked, trying to clear away the dizziness, and Justin got to see the exact moment he was fully aware of his situation because the despair made his face into a mask just like the masks that had given him his power. "No. No!"
He thrashed, knowing it was useless, but doing it anyway in his panic.

There was playing the game to survive and then there was laughing at someone else's abject horror.
Where did some of these people even come from?
For Susannah
Even if people did come, none of them would be able to help him. He'd was too far out and had sunk up to his neck. The force it would take to pull him out was something that only maybe someone with one of the masks could manage.
That meant he was going to die here, the way they had. The thought of knowing that, of knowing what his family had felt as he died was more horrifying than the prospect of death itself.
He was most likely going to dehydrate before anything else and the fact he could not stop weeping, silently, despondently, was going to probably help bring it on faster.
Re: For Susannah
She certainly doesn't expect to see the caveman sinking down into it.
"Guy? Guy, honey, what happened?"

He'd just not run into either of them again afterward but he'd wanted to.
They both had nerve.
"I'm - I got thrown in. I came to this floor to catch my breath - not many people come here, but someone was here. I can't get out. I can't -"
The way he cried was not just because of his imminent death. There was something deeper there.
"No one gets out of this. We have it back home. People just - they die of exposure or because they have nothing to drink. The sun just bakes them until their skin splits. Then the vultures come."
If he sounded like he knew this from experience it was because he did. His family'd had to tell him to leave when it was clear they weren't getting out, that they were dying. He'd stayed until their lips were cracked and their skin was burnt from the sun and they'd decided that he'd seen enough.

She fingers her bag of chakrams. She'd lost two at the very beginning when they'd had the altercation with that boy, the one that had ended with that Eponine girl busting in. Could she spare the loss of one more?
Could she live with herself if she didn't try to do this for him.
"Guy, honey?" Susannah says softly. "I don't think you're going to get out of there without dyin'. But I can make it quick for you."

This was not just about his own death, though. If it was just about dying, he might keep struggling until exhaustion
"Dying, I can deal with but my family died like this." He shook his head miserably. "I don't want to know what they went through."
And so she knew he meant 'yes,' that it was okay, that it was what he wanted, he begged.
"Please."

"I'll see you back in the Capitol, honey."
She throws the ring. Her aim is true.

Under the tar, where no one could see it, the fingers that gripped the bone bracelet around his wrist loosened and went slack.
Then he was still, like three other bodies had once been still under a blistering sun not long after a young boy had wandered off weeping. He was still, at least, other than the movement of his body sinking slowly into the black.
