ARENA 09 - THE MUSEUM

The Tributes are woken up early for this Arena, and switched from whatever sleeping attire they're currently in to a set of pajamas, each designed for the individual in questions. Women wear onesies, and most of the men wear two-pieces, but other than that any similarities are at random - the outfits are in all sorts of colors and patterns.

The floor of the helicopter taking them to their Arena location, and of the underground entrance to the tubes that hoist them to the surface, will feel cold under their bare feet.

Rather than bringing them to sunlight, like the tubes have in the past, instead the Tributes are presented to a dark concrete ceiling in a badly-lit parking lot. Fluorescent lights do little to illuminate the cavernous space.

The countdown begins, announced as if from far away.

The Cornucopia, a ghastly thing carved from stone and concrete, sits at the center of a pattern of white and yellow lines reminiscent of spots for parked cars. The painted lines create a sort of spoked wheel, providing lanes for the Tributes leading to the prizes at the center. Some of the more unfortunate Tributes will find the concrete architecture has placed pillars in their lanes.

Six parked cars lie around the outskirts of the huge lot, barely visible in the dim lighting. Glowing exit signs on two opposite sides of the chamber announce where Tributes should go to escape the bloodbath. Elevator doors are perched beneath them.

The gong rings out, and the countdown's voice announces "the Arena is now open". The Games have begun.

The hand that she moved to shield her eyes now lowered as Holiday gave him a sarcastic look. It was a great contrast and seemed a little out of place with her blush. "You look like a stripper."

Eliot bit back a laugh. "No, I don't. I'm wearin' too much for that." He raised his chin. "And there's worse things ta look like."
doc_holi: (fuck are you doing?)

"... I guess," she answered back, but at least he seemed to be in good enough spirits. On the other hand, she certainly wasn't blaming him for trying to undress one of those things. Still, he didn't seem like a threat this early in the game. "Need help?"

"I wouldn't say no." He started loosening the laces on one of the boots. There was no way he'd be able to get the pants off over them.

She was weaponless and had a very low level for caring when she left the arena anymore. So Holiday only tightened her bag over her shoulder to keep it from slipping off before walking forward. She crouched down on the manikin's other side and worked on getting it's boot off while checking the size. Nope, too big for her.

"I imagine the gift shop would have been picked clean of clothes by now. This is going to be a lot of people's favorite spot soon."

The boots that were too big for her were too small for him. He set the one he'd pulled off aside and slid the pants on. The knives when in the pockets. "Only if they're lookin' for hats an' t-shirts."

He sighed, looking back the statues of Anna and Parker. "Ya ever wonder what happened to 'em?"

Holiday stood up again when she realized Eliot could handle the rest. She stretched her back a little and sighed, looking to the statues. "I try not to, honestly. There's too many possibilities, not many of them good."

She glanced back towards Chris' statue. If anything, she hoped he was dead and not locked up somewhere.

"Yeah." He sighed, glancing back at the statues of Anna and Parker. "And why was it them rather than the rest of us."

He hated hoping that they were dead. But the alternative... He never wanted to look at an Avox and see either of them. Never.

"You shouldn't think like that." Thoughts like that start a downward spiral.

Not just into despair, but it could also bring about a lack of freedom. Holiday was only barely keeping herself confident and unafraid of the Capitol as it was.
