ARENA 09 - THE MUSEUM
The Tributes are woken up early for this Arena, and switched from whatever sleeping attire they're currently in to a set of pajamas, each designed for the individual in questions. Women wear onesies, and most of the men wear two-pieces, but other than that any similarities are at random - the outfits are in all sorts of colors and patterns.
The floor of the helicopter taking them to their Arena location, and of the underground entrance to the tubes that hoist them to the surface, will feel cold under their bare feet.
Rather than bringing them to sunlight, like the tubes have in the past, instead the Tributes are presented to a dark concrete ceiling in a badly-lit parking lot. Fluorescent lights do little to illuminate the cavernous space.
The countdown begins, announced as if from far away.
20

18…
The Cornucopia, a ghastly thing carved from stone and concrete, sits at the center of a pattern of white and yellow lines reminiscent of spots for parked cars. The painted lines create a sort of spoked wheel, providing lanes for the Tributes leading to the prizes at the center. Some of the more unfortunate Tributes will find the concrete architecture has placed pillars in their lanes.
8
7
6…
Six parked cars lie around the outskirts of the huge lot, barely visible in the dim lighting. Glowing exit signs on two opposite sides of the chamber announce where Tributes should go to escape the bloodbath. Elevator doors are perched beneath them.

The gong rings out, and the countdown's voice announces "the Arena is now open". The Games have begun.

She gestured to the driver seat window, which was very much broken. "I was gonna try to hotwire it first, but since there was no point, opted to just take the thing instead. Now we can get where we need to, and quick!"
She pulled the hood on her onesie off. "Nab anything from Cornucopia?"
no subject
"Yeah but... It has a working battery and gas and everything," Ellie pointed out, obviously not sure if she could trust it, but willing to trust Mindy. "Where the fuck are we going to go? This is a parking lot."
She shrugged at the question. "Nah, not really. Two fire starting kits. Do you have any idea where the hell we are?"
no subject
"Well yeah, for anyone who gave a fuck how to use it. As for where to go, well, we can still get out of HERE, try to access the other floor somehow. I mean, we DO want to get a drop on the others. It's big, but I doubt we have as many places to hide."
She wrinkled her nose. "Fuck. Well, we'l just have to forage then. Still better than getting nothing at all."
no subject
"Can we get out to the street from here?"
Because where there was a parking lot there had to be roads, right?
Hope you don't mind a surprise threesome.
Sandy had thought she had discovered a quick hiding place, in her absolute terror of trying to escape the chaos of everything. She had failed to notice the care was idling and not in fact turned off.
Also she had failed to notice there were two other occupants in the car. She was curled up in the back seat clutching a back to her chest in a cute set of bunny pattern PJs and only then did she inch open her eyes and see the other two girls.
"Oh...nuts. This one is taken?"
A CRACK would distract them further as whoever had been chasing Sandy landed a hit on the cars back windshield with something heavy enough to crack it. Sandy shrieked in surprise.
Re: Hope you don't mind a surprise threesome.
But she wouldn't finish, as apparently, something was coming after her, and landed on the car. Mindy, of course, was not one to meander with a bad situation. The car roared back to life and Mindy took off.
"We're about to find the answer to your question Ellie!"
no subject
"Shit - right - seatbelt," She said as she snapped it back into place before looking back at their new passenger. "So you're Sandy! She said, her voice picking up to carry over the engine. "Pruna said you can turn to rock and shit. I'm Ellie." She glanced over at their driver. "And you already know Mindy, I guess. You're not in here to kill us, right?"
no subject
"Yeah uh...not right now I can't. Nice to meet you." It always amazed her that Pruna would talk about her to other people. Sure Pruna was that important her life but what was there really to say about the less capable of the two of them? Who'd want to hear stories of Sandy when they were talking to Pruna?
As the car shot forward Sandy yelped and clawed for a seat belt. "Tell me you've done this before!?"
no subject
They'd be expecting the car to run out and then they'd hunt them. That definitely didn't need to happen.
"Anyone got a map?"
no subject
"No luck. Just try to go down, I guess? There's gotta be an exit ramp somewhere."
She pops it closed and turns to look back at Sandy. "Don't worry. Driving a car isn't as hard as you think."
no subject
"Are you sure the minute we pull out of this parking lot they won't just vaporize us? Or something?" She questioned further taking little comfort in Ellie's words.
no subject
no subject
"Why just vaporize us when they could have a fucking dinosaur step on us instead," Ellie said mildly, probably not at all helping Sandy's freak out.
no subject
"But they've gotta have something to keep us from leaving right? A force field or whatever?"
no subject
She at least grasped that much in this fucked up world.
"You know they will. We hide the car, use it later, like when we need to get out of somewhere fast. NO lingering in though, they're passing fire starting kits. It would be too easy a way to take us out."
no subject
"I got a couple of those kits..."
no subject
Looking back up from the spoils "How could we boobytrap the car without wrecking it?" She'd never set up anything like that before.
no subject
She gave a wink to Ellie: she was actually pretty impressed she thought about setting the car on fire to begin with.
no subject
"So uh -- it's probably a no go on keeping the car from getting wrecked, but that doesn't mean it wouldn't be useful."
no subject
"So we rig the car to blow up, hope someone stupid tries to take it and set out to start the latest round of "Survive as long as you can."
Great plan. Especially because it required very little of her.
no subject
She looked over at the two girls. "Now for another thing. We're probably gonna get separated eventually. Where do you want to meet up again?"
no subject
"No idea. We should probably figure out where those elevators go. I haven't seen anything but the parking lot, and not really sure I want to be hanging out by the cornucopia, if you know what I mean."
no subject
"Alright do you want the gift shop on the second floor, the Wax museum on the sixth or the big movie theater on the fifth?" She asked picking random locations that jumped out at her.
no subject
"We'll opt for the sixth floor. I don't trust the theater, and a gift shop is just begging to get our shit stolen. The higher up we are, I think, the better. What about you guys?"
no subject
"What the hell is a Wax museum? Like, here, have a tribute to candles?"
