ARENA 09 - THE MUSEUM
The Tributes are woken up early for this Arena, and switched from whatever sleeping attire they're currently in to a set of pajamas, each designed for the individual in questions. Women wear onesies, and most of the men wear two-pieces, but other than that any similarities are at random - the outfits are in all sorts of colors and patterns.
The floor of the helicopter taking them to their Arena location, and of the underground entrance to the tubes that hoist them to the surface, will feel cold under their bare feet.
Rather than bringing them to sunlight, like the tubes have in the past, instead the Tributes are presented to a dark concrete ceiling in a badly-lit parking lot. Fluorescent lights do little to illuminate the cavernous space.
The countdown begins, announced as if from far away.

The Cornucopia, a ghastly thing carved from stone and concrete, sits at the center of a pattern of white and yellow lines reminiscent of spots for parked cars. The painted lines create a sort of spoked wheel, providing lanes for the Tributes leading to the prizes at the center. Some of the more unfortunate Tributes will find the concrete architecture has placed pillars in their lanes.

6…
Six parked cars lie around the outskirts of the huge lot, barely visible in the dim lighting. Glowing exit signs on two opposite sides of the chamber announce where Tributes should go to escape the bloodbath. Elevator doors are perched beneath them.

The gong rings out, and the countdown's voice announces "the Arena is now open". The Games have begun.

Knowing the Capitol, it probably was a trick. Just not the kind off trick Max was thinking it to be.

"Talk. Don't move, just talk."
Never let a potential enemy trick you into being compliant by talking too much. It was a good rule, but one she was willing to break for something that seemed to know her.

"I know you as Max Guevara." He still kept his hands up. "You're basically what I'd call a mutant on account of your genetic makeup, which has cat DNA in it. You called it...you were a part of an organization called...called Manticore."
He was pretty sure that was right. His memory was pretty good, but hardly perfect.
"...Transgenic. You called us both transgenic. I know you because, in the future - my past - you were brought here before. Will be brought here. You were the first person I knew in the Games that had something in common with me - we're both mutants because of out DNA. We were allies in the Arena, the one Arena you were in, before you won. You became a Mentor, but...then you disappeared."
At this, his voice cracked.
"And now you're back. Just...not in the way I was expecting at all."

This didn't mean his words were any less confusing. "I'm the only me. Just Max." She had no idea where 'Guevara' would have come from. "We can unify. For now." Max was still hesitant to trust in this new world, but having an armored ally wouldn't hurt.

"All right." He took a breath. "So...we should probably look for food."

If they had anything left. They hadn't been the only ones who had gone up and down that elevator, after all.

Though, judging by his tone, he's not entirely thrilled by it.
Really? A bag?no subject
With the secrecy and anticipation of having a new arrival in the Arena, Max was inevitably left in the dark as to how the game was played; she knew that if she wanted to survive she had to kill. For some it might be a terrifying prospect, but for Max it was simply a new mission.

Which...probably sounded strange, given that everyone who didn't win was supposed to die, right?
"If we die, and don't win, we're brought back to life. From what we know, its...through cloning. And we have to keep playing in the Games, until we win, or the Capitol decides not to bring us back."

Besides, it meant she didn't have to return to her frozen world. Or worst -- Manticore.
"Is this place familiar to you?" It would help if they had some sort of advantage over the others.

That was when the elevator suddenly dinged. Very loud.
"...Shell."

Guessing this is the end!
Supplies.
Darn it all, Max, he thought as he slid over to grab the items. If you'd stayed for a few more seconds...
