ARENA 09 - THE MUSEUM

The Tributes are woken up early for this Arena, and switched from whatever sleeping attire they're currently in to a set of pajamas, each designed for the individual in questions. Women wear onesies, and most of the men wear two-pieces, but other than that any similarities are at random - the outfits are in all sorts of colors and patterns.

The floor of the helicopter taking them to their Arena location, and of the underground entrance to the tubes that hoist them to the surface, will feel cold under their bare feet.

Rather than bringing them to sunlight, like the tubes have in the past, instead the Tributes are presented to a dark concrete ceiling in a badly-lit parking lot. Fluorescent lights do little to illuminate the cavernous space.

The countdown begins, announced as if from far away.

The Cornucopia, a ghastly thing carved from stone and concrete, sits at the center of a pattern of white and yellow lines reminiscent of spots for parked cars. The painted lines create a sort of spoked wheel, providing lanes for the Tributes leading to the prizes at the center. Some of the more unfortunate Tributes will find the concrete architecture has placed pillars in their lanes.

Six parked cars lie around the outskirts of the huge lot, barely visible in the dim lighting. Glowing exit signs on two opposite sides of the chamber announce where Tributes should go to escape the bloodbath. Elevator doors are perched beneath them.

The gong rings out, and the countdown's voice announces "the Arena is now open". The Games have begun.

If that was the message the outfit was meant to convey, then it was doubly unfair that, for being Eliot's twin, Lindsey was stuck in the exact same outfit. He already gave them a show, not to mention it sent him mixed signals. True, Gabriel was back and they made out up already, but it was doing exactly that in that other arena which got the angel removed in the first place. Right?

Regardless, Lindsey suppose this was close enough to PJs when he normally preferred to sleep topless.

"Eliot!" Lindsey winced at how his voice seemed to echo in the large underground lot. He managed to get out of the cornucopia pretty well this time, only a scrape in one arm but still stole away with a bag of items and a tent. He was in the process of tying it all to his back with the string he coiled up. "Over here!"

Eliot looked up when he heard Lindsey's voice. He jogged over, folding knives held firmly, ready for a fight. "Ya ready to get outta here?"

Lindsey eyed his brother's knives, but seeing that they weren't pointed at him, he let it out of his mind. Rather, he tried to be amused that Eliot was stuck in the same outfit. Unlike Lindsey though, Eliot didn't have two bullet scars over his heart for everyone to see.

"Yeah, but I don't like the look of those elevators. There's too many people rushing at them... Can we try the stairs?"

Eliot looked over at the elevators and nodded. "Yeah."

He led the way over to the closest corner. And that was where he discovered that the door was locked. "Dammit, I need some lock picks."

A moment of awkwardness ensued when it occurred to Lindsey that in all the months since his reunion with his brother, he never really asked what Eliot did. Parker was a thief, that much was open, but Eliot didn't strike him as the thieving sort.

"You pick locks?" He inspected his gear again but found nothing that could be turned into a makeshift pick. "Maybe one of the cars might have something." He nodded to the few vehicles parked in the garage, but there were several people crowding them too.

Eliot looked over at the closest car and nodded. "They would." There were lots of options when it came to lock picks. And cars had enough small, straight pieces that he could adapt something. "Watch my back."
