ARENA 09 - THE MUSEUM

The Tributes are woken up early for this Arena, and switched from whatever sleeping attire they're currently in to a set of pajamas, each designed for the individual in questions. Women wear onesies, and most of the men wear two-pieces, but other than that any similarities are at random - the outfits are in all sorts of colors and patterns.

The floor of the helicopter taking them to their Arena location, and of the underground entrance to the tubes that hoist them to the surface, will feel cold under their bare feet.

Rather than bringing them to sunlight, like the tubes have in the past, instead the Tributes are presented to a dark concrete ceiling in a badly-lit parking lot. Fluorescent lights do little to illuminate the cavernous space.

The countdown begins, announced as if from far away.

The Cornucopia, a ghastly thing carved from stone and concrete, sits at the center of a pattern of white and yellow lines reminiscent of spots for parked cars. The painted lines create a sort of spoked wheel, providing lanes for the Tributes leading to the prizes at the center. Some of the more unfortunate Tributes will find the concrete architecture has placed pillars in their lanes.

Six parked cars lie around the outskirts of the huge lot, barely visible in the dim lighting. Glowing exit signs on two opposite sides of the chamber announce where Tributes should go to escape the bloodbath. Elevator doors are perched beneath them.

The gong rings out, and the countdown's voice announces "the Arena is now open". The Games have begun.

He stared at her for a few moments, just to make sure she wasn't going to suddenly hop off the platform and shank him, before nodding and sinking down to sit against the pillar. His bloodpusher was hammering in his chest, now that he had time to think about what he'd just done.

"For now, yes. I didn't pay much attention to anyone else." He could hear the noises from behind him, though, which meant that at least some of the people who had run for the cornucopia were still fighting over it.

"I see." Slowly, she brought her head to the side, to look out at the carnage. "Thirty seven seconds left, then."

She paused. He was pretty close to her.

"I'm not interested in killing you right now. In case you wished to know."

"Oh, good," he said, inspecting the bag and the vial he'd managed to scoop up. String, some kind of pamphlet, what looked like a first aid kit (he was sure he'd need that sooner or later), a device that when switched on shone a bright red dot against his grey palm.

"I'm not really interested in fighting you either." It wasn't like he couldn't -- he ran his tongue over his sharpened fangs -- but there was no reason to, really, not if she wasn't going to attack first.

"Smart of you, to wait until the initial rush is over."

"Its pointless to get attacked so quickly," Homura replied, craning her head to look at the action. "There's enough at the Cornucopia for everyone that's left."

Her eyes narrowed, seeing an opening.

"Ah. There." She stepped off the platform, as if she were stepping off a curb into a crosswalk. "Now. Its my turn."

With that, she broke into a run.

Well. She'd said she hadn't had any interest in killing him, but that might change once she was armed. Either way Signless didn't want to stick around to find out, so when she ran, he set off in the opposite direction. There had to be a way up, or down, and he planned to find it.

[ooc: is this a good ending do you think?]

((OOC: Yup! Good for me!))
