Kili is perfectly happy with a stalemate and conversation, as they seem to be keeping his guts right where they're supposed to be. Swallowing as he realizes just the situation she has him in, he tries to remember what Ellie said about the dragon, that she didn't think the creature was all that bad to deal with. For all of his uncle's hatred of dragons, for all the legends and tales of how Smaug absolutely decimated his people, he can't bring himself to want to risk his life only to possibly be killed later. Maybe that makes him a coward, in the face of a wyrm, but his heart shudders at the thought of facing her with just a knife.
