emptytrousers: (Didn't know what this would be.)

Just when he's about to reply, she pulls a spiked warhammer out of the display and Kili freezes where he'd previously been moving slowly toward the doorway. He doesn't check behind him or otherwise tear his gaze from her or that warhammer. Last thing he wants is to be on the receiving end of that. Still, there seems to be quite a supply that she's pulling from behind the glass and for a moment he worries if there'll be any left; from where he's standing he can't see that there's more than a handful of exhibits and he wouldn't put it past her to pillage all of them.

That is, until she tosses the gauntlet his way. It's something, even if it's small. He carefully picks it up and goes about fastening it around his wrist with the ease of someone familiar with such a thing.

"We don't need to kill each other," he replies, even though she's right. Only one person can walk out the winner and Kili has no plans to die.

He cautiously makes his way toward the weapons display, gauntlet held up on his wrist between them. It wouldn't protect him against a warhammer, but it was better than nothing. As soon as he's close enough, he'll follow suit, plucking the bow and its quiver.
